In 1981, the Friends of the Pflugerville Library established a single-room library on Railroad Avenue. As demand grew, the library moved to a cozy house on 3rd Street generously provided by the City in 1985.
In 1990, the Friends of the Library purchased 1 1/2 acres on 10th Street, later gifting it to the City in 1997 with the condition that a new library would be built on the donated land. This vision became a reality in 1999 when the library opened its doors. In 2013, an impressive expansion project improved the library’s amenities.

Over the years, the dedicated volunteers of the Friends group have contributed significantly, amassing over $750,000. These funds have been allocated to support various programs, acquire equipment, enrich the collection, and facilitate staff development.
Annually, the Friends of the Pflugerville Library commend the exceptional service of two high school teen volunteers by providing them with financial assistance to pursue their higher education goals.
